My Father’s Impenetrable Will Power
My father smoked for many years (pretty heavily), then one day decided to quit. COLD TURKEY! He never smoked a cigarette again. Will’s willpower was always something I found inspirational. He managed to stick to his guns when tackling ugly habits.

When making our resolutions this year, let’s pay tribute to my father’s memory by sticking to them. If everyone reading will do this for at least 1 resolution this year, imagine how happy he would be.

My 2026 New Year’s Resolutions
My resolutions are pretty similar every year. Here they are for 2026:
- Spend more time doing the things I love: Time with family, more surf, more travel, more good food, and more creative pursuits!
- Less Toxic Lifestyle: If you follow my challenges, you’ll see this is a constant battle. My father stopped both smoking and booze cold turkey! He was an amazing man. Though I don’t smoke, and I don’t plan full abstinence from alcohol, I’m always striving for a healthier lifestyle. So, I’ll be limiting alcohol, sugar, late nights, too much work, and cutting any final shitty people from my life. That’s it!
- Dry January: Along those lines, I’m going to join my sis on a Dry January Journey! Let’s see how we feel February 1st.
3 Day Water Fast
UPDATE: Along with doing a damp January that has turned into a Dry February, I gave the 3-Day Water Fast another go. The first time I tried, I got terrible stomach cramps in the first 1.5 days. I couldn’t do it. Then, it dawned on me that I was missing minerals and electrolytes. SO, here are some tips that helped me get through it:
- Breakfast – black tea, other wise my head would explode without coffee.
- Water with Salt – I have a 1 gallon jug of water on my desk, that I carry around the house too. It’s got a tablespoon or so of good sea salt in it.
- Multi-Vitamin – I take some vitamins and multi-minerals.
- Coconut Water – Whenever I’m really feeling hungry, I down a glass of it. I tried to not have more than 2 glasses a day.
- Magnesium Glycinate – I take some before bed. One of the side effects is not sleeping well. My 3rd night was hard.
- Don’t Complain – Whatever you do, don’t gripe all day about how hard it is. The less the people around you know about it, the easier it is. You don’t wanna keep talking about it.
